We watched the 9 PM fireworks (which are for the families with kids) from the roof of our apartment complex. It seemed like there was a 180-degree view of fireworks--since they launch all along the main harbour, and also at Darling Harbour. We didn't know where to focus our attention.
Then, my friend Greg--who I thought would be my one friend in Sydney, but who has just moved back to the States--invited us to watch the fireworks from Google. We were curious to see Google's offices. Plus, they have a great view of the Harbour Bridge--which meant we wouldn't have to fight the crowds for a spot to see the midnight fireworks.
I think whoever is the interior designer for Google must have the best job. There were some pretty cool spaces; and it seemed like almost anything goes. Although, I wonder if it is distracting, trying to conduct a meeting in a conference room where the design theme is "jungle".
The fireworks were spectacular, and were synchronized with music to launch all along the harbour. Once again, we didn't know where to look. And it looked as though some of the buildings were also launching fireworks. Sadly, most of my pictures completely didn't come though. And the videos were terrible too. But here are the better pictures.
