a walk

We decided to take a long walk a couple weekends ago. Fede had been lying to telling his chiropractor that we were going to go on a hike--and then we never did. So, I pulled out my trusty book with day walks in Sydney, and decided we should check out Iron Cove.

Of course, we had to have a good breakfast first. So after we stuffed ourselves, we walked across the ANZAC Bridge.

It was actually pretty horrible to walk across--the traffic whipping by us and the wind whipping through us.

Truthfully, the entire first part of our walk was terrible (not just the ANZAC Bridge). The streets had lots of traffic, and the scenery was not pretty (at all). But finally, we reached Iron Cove.

It reminded me of Green Lake in Seattle--with lots of people walking, running and biking. It definitely was a great place to people watch.

We stopped to watch a rainbow lorikeet.

The flight path for the Sydney Airport is right above Iron Cove.

The last part of the walk was wonderful--which almost made up for the horrible first half of the walk. Our legs were sore from working for 11 km. Happily, we caught the bus home. And then, in order to fully recover, we had some chocolate cake.

Kelli--Yes. The cake was delicious! The macadamia nuts weren't actually a good addition. They got lost in the chocolate. Much better when I added them to the banana bread.
