A trip to Eveleigh Markets

There are a ton of weekend markets here in Sydney. Since we don't have a car, we've only been to the market in our neighborhood--which is once a month and not that special. Yesterday, I was determined to check out Eveleigh Market. It turns out, it's actually not that difficult to get there by bus. So, I really have no excuse not to check more of them out.

We couldn't believe these people were walking around (on the hot pavement) without shoes.

The Eveleigh Market is located in an old rail yard. You feel like you're walking through no-man's-land. But then you get inside the market.

Although we came here for the food, the flowers were beautiful--especially next to old, rusting parts.

I knew that Kylie Kwong had a booth at the market, but I didn't expect her to actually be there, preparing food. Lots of people were snapping pictures of her.

Of course, we had to get something from her booth. It was simple, but fresh and delicious.

Then, we walked by this booth that had a fruit I had never heard of: achacha. Apparently it was originally grown in the Amazon in Bolivia--and now here in Australia. They gave us a fruit to taste.

It was pretty good, but there's a huge seed in the middle. For me, the fruit to seed ratio was too low.

After buying some veggies, and a couple other things, it was time to head home. Definitely a fun trip to the market. More pictures below.
