unexpected sightings

I can't believe how much I miss having internet access at home. When we're traveling, I don't really miss it because we're exploring new places--so we aren't going to surf the web. But, since we've moved here, there are so many things I want to research on the internet, and then I'm stuck. I now make a long list of things I am going to look at the next time I'm at an internet cafe.

The good news is that we should be hooked up next week. Yay!

In the meantime, while Fede is at work, I wander around the city. I am a complete lazy bum--waking up late, taking my time getting ready to leave the apartment, and finally making a quick trip somewhere. There were two days when it rained, HARD, and I didn't want to leave at all. Thankfully, I have my Kindle and lots of books to read. But, I'm starting to feel very unproductive. It might be time for Operation Sallie MUST LEARN SPANISH. That should give me something to do.

So far, I really like Sydney. I love the various languages I hear--surprisingly, a lot of French--but also a lot of other languages that I've never heard before and cannot identify. While it seems so incredibly cosmopolitan here, some of the neighborhoods seem very relaxed. And sometimes, you come across something silly, like this woman, with a bird on her head.

She told me that she specifically goes looking for sunflower seeds in order to feed these rainbow lorikeets. I couldn't believe these birds are just flying around Sydney.

I want to post some pictures and videos of Santafest--but I'm having trouble uploading video. It may have to wait until we finally have internet access at home.

We are still waiting for our stuff to arrive on the boat. It should be at the port next week, and then it will take another week for it to get to our apartment--unless everyone stops working because of the holidays. Then, we will be lucky if we get anything before January. So, I won't post pictures of our apartment until our stuff gets here and we are unpacked--because the furniture we are currently renting is pretty ugly. And the couch is particularly uncomfortable.

Until then, I'm trying to get into the holiday spirit. But it's too sunny and warm to be Christmas.
