almost 2 weeks

We have been here for almost 2 weeks. Sadly, we haven't done much sight-seeing. Mostly, we have been looking for apartments. The process makes me more than a bit anxious. There is a 15-minute window when an apartment is open. So, sometimes you are waiting outside of an apartment with a bunch of other people.

And then, everyone crams into the apartment to take a look. Typically, this causes traffic jams in the hallways and the bathrooms. But, I suppose it gives you a good sense of how many people you can fit in the apartment, should you choose to throw a huge party.

We are still looking at various neighborhoods in Sydney. They say Sydney is a city of villages--although most of the apartment search websites call the various neighborhoods "suburbs." Whatever you want to call them, they each have a different vibe.

So far, we really like Newtown and Surry Hills (and maybe Pyrmont). We checked our Kirribilli (which is an awesome name to say). But it was a bit too quiet for us.

Although, there is a great view of the Harbour Bridge and downtown skyline.

We did check out this cool apartment that was in a converted grain silo. But, we decided that it wasn't quite what we were looking for.

Our days are not completely filled with apartment-searching, since most of the apartments are only open for inspection on Saturday. So, while Fede is at work, I've been wandering the streets of Sydney. I was amused by these City Rangers. Not sure what they do.

And there was a bubble-guy at the northern end of Hyde Park.

Oh, and we did go to one party. My friend Greg (who sadly is leaving Sydney to move back to the US) had a board game/going away party. We went to play some board games--and then we were too tired to stay for the going away party. Plus, I think I would have been too sad. He was our only friend in Sydney. And I don't remember how to make friends.

We did not leave the party empty-handed. Greg was giving away a bunch of stuff that he no longer needed--including a transformer--which Fede carried back to our hotel.

So that is pretty much what we've been doing. Nothing too exciting to report. Maybe when we have a new apartment, we'll be able to get out and enjoy this city.
