It has been a really long time since we've posted anything on this blog. So, I thought I would write something quickly. The four of us went to Mexico in August. I came back to Seattle after one week (I have a lot of work to do...which I should be doing now). Fede and the girls are staying for another 10 days. They are spending most of their time in Durango - back in "Depa 4" which is where we lived before. So I think it feels somewhat familiar to the girls. Then they are going to spend a few days in Monterrey. Then they will fly back to Seattle.
We are hoping the 2.5 weeks in Mexico will give the girls a shot of Spanish. Especially because Elie hears less Spanish now that she is in elementary school. Her school is 1/2 day in English and 1/2 day in Spanish. But most of the kids speak English to each other. So really, there isn't a lot of time during the day when Elie is speaking Spanish. And she's already starting to lose it.
Mei-Mei is going back to the Spanish immersion preschool that we love. Since she gets the whole day in Spanish, she has maintained her Spanish. But we must be vigilant! You can lose your language skills quickly (I am a perfect example of this).
It's been quiet in the house without Fede and the girls. I miss them all (especially Fede). But it's nice to be "single" for a little bit.
