adventures in sleep (deprivation)

I knew that parents of babies are lucky if they get any sleep. But I really didn't know exactly what that meant. And now I've discovered it is the question parents ask each other, "How does she sleep?" Because we can all commiserate with one another.

One night, when we had Bambina sleeping in our bed--because she was throwing a fit and wouldn't sleep otherwise--I remember laughing sadly at our sleeping positions.

Bambina sleeps like this.

She takes up a lot of space, but clearly is very comfortable.

I had to sleep on my side--because if I lay on my back, my left arm would be dangling off the bed. Definitely not comfortable. And I couldn't get any closer to Bambina--because her hand would be smacking my face.

Fede was also sleeping on his side. For someone so small, Bambina knows how to take up a lot of space.

Now, we've moved her to a crib mattress on the floor--because now that the crib is put together--it can't be moved out of the room. Unfortunately, Bambina now likes to wake up every 2-3 hours at night. I'm so tired, I curl up on the crib mattress with her, to feed her. Surprisingly, I sort of fit on it--although I'm not sure the mattress was designed to support my weight...

Let's hope she changes her sleeping habits soon--otherwise, we might have to resort to some desperate measures.
