La Brujita Feliz

I had great ideas for Maya, the girl who could not eat, but since I learned of the coming of bambino I began to think about a different story. We have given a lot of childrens books to my niece and nephew, and I like to learn that they really enjoy them. And I like the concept of story time and the bed time stories. But I want to tell my children my own stories, first, that are in spanish, and second that would have a hidden correlation between the characters and real life people. Perhaps they would also appreciate these stories that I would leave them behind.

I began thinking of ways to tell a small story that had some morale at the end and the world where the stories would take place. During the plane ride back and forth from Melbourne, with the help from Sallie, I came up with the setting. This would be a kingdom with 5 families:

- Royalty (Realeza)
- Monks (Monjes)
- Farmers (Rancheros)
- Atlethes (Atletas)
- Engineers (Ingenieros)

Children of the five families would go to school together, and that’s where the main part of the stories would take place. Besides the established families, there would also be the Gypsies (Gitanos) that would symbolize the wanderers that come and go and the Witches (Brujos), from which the main character is from.

The main character is “La Brujita Feliz”, and she is the daughther of a King and a Witch. I am banking on the word of the last ultra-sound where the woman seemed to think that bambino was a girl. We are not certain, so if it’s a boy I’ll change that. Sallie warned me to not fall into stereotypes, and that the stories should show how the characters can gain attributes from other families. Or something like that.

Who knows, maybe Maya’s story will be incorporated into one of these short bed time stories. :P
