Before driving to Durango (which is the city where Fede's mom was born), we had just enough time to take a trip to Teziutlán (which is the city where Fede's dad was born). So Fede's mom and dad, Fede, me and the girls all took a trip together.
First, we flew into Puebla. Fede and I had visited Puebla once before--and it is the city that I remember as having the best food on our trip through three different cities in Mexico. Sadly, we were only flying to Puebla in order to drive to Teziutlán, so we really didn't get to eat anything amazing.
But on our walk that morning, we did see some intense exercising in the main square.
I don't know if you can tell, but every step machine is being used. Personally, I wouldn't want to exercise in the main square of a city.
I'm not sure if the exercising is a normal thing--or if it was part of the special event they were having. Because they also had set up a large sand area for a beach volleyball court/soccer field. And behind this sand court area was a mini library, where you could borrow a book and sit at one of the tables, under a beach umbrella.
As we drove away from Puebla, we found a very cool park. We have no idea what it is called. But Fede and I now really want to go back there. Some day, Puebla, we will be back.
The drive to Teziutlán from Puebla took about two hours. The girls mainly slept. And I took a few pictures of the scenery.
In Teziutlán, we met up with two of Fede's dad's sisters. But unfortunately, we didn't see too much of the city because Elie got sick. She and I spent two days straight in the hotel. (It was horrible. I try not to think about it.) We did manage to see the main cathedral though.
Thankfully, Elie was well enough for our drive to Veracruz. That took about 4 hours I think. Maybe more. We did stop to have lunch at a random restaurant off the highway--which turned out to be quite good.
Once we got to Veracruz, we spent most of the time in the mall since it was so hot. But we did manage to take a very quick dip in the ocean.
While it was great to spend time with Fede's family, I have to say that this was definitely not a good trip. Mainly because we all got sick. Elie and Fede suffered the most. But the rest of us had some sort of ailment. So, unfortunately, my lingering impressions of this trip is that bad things happened and we should all try to forget about them.
