old news: driving to Durango

I intended to post this when we first got to Durango. But that never happened. So, I'm going to post these photos now.

We drove from Monterrey to Durango. Fede's parents drove the minivan (filled with everything we could possibly need). We drove the other car, a Mazda CX-5--which ironically is the car we were thinking of buying, before we decided on the Subaru Forester.

We are really lucky in that Fede's parents are letting us borrow the Mazda for the duration of our stay in Durango. Otherwise, I am not sure what we would do about a car.

Anyway, here are some pictures from the road as we are leaving Monterrey.

We took the toll roads to Durango, which cost about $60 and took about 6 hours. The girls were mainly okay--although there were some moments where both girls were screaming--and I wanted to join them.

I was surprised to see windmills just outside of Monterrey. I could understand solar panels--it is very sunny there. But I would not have thought Monterrey was particularly windy.

The rest of the way was mainly grass and bushes. Except, of course, for the toll booths and gas stations.

And finally, we made it to Durango!
