whole lotta grunting goin' on

I didn't expect Bambina to be such a noisy baby. She grunts and moans and makes all sorts of funny sounds. Lately, she sometimes sounds like a baby seal, or a tiny horn. Fede and I can't help but laugh.

Sometimes, I try to interpret the grunts as Elie's way of communicating.

1. She'll grunt when she's waking up. As if groaning about having to wake up and face the day. I can imagine that when she's older, she will habitually be hitting the snooze button. Sometimes, she will grunt and groan for 15+ minutes, protesting the need to wake up. Not that I'm trying to wake her up--but maybe her stomach is telling her she's hungry, and the rest of her wants to keep sleeping.

2. She'll grunt when she's going to sleep. Sort of like a older person, with aches and pains, trying to move around and get comfortable. But every position is not quite right, and the grunts and groans express her discomfort.

3. She'll grunt when she's feeding. Sometimes she'll move her head away from me--as if she's on a diet and really shouldn't drink anymore. But then she'll sigh and latch on, as if she can't resist the boob. And the grunts indicate her desire to say no, when really she can't help but say yes.

In other news, we aren't going to be posting many pictures on this blog. So, if you want to see pictures of Elie, we'll be posting them on Google+. You don't need a Google+ account to see them--but you will need to tell me your email address so I can add you to the list.

Kade is a good grunter too. It cracks us up and we love that we all speak that universal language of grunt!
