Before we arrived in Sydney, so many people told us that the food in Sydney is awesome. I think this raised our expectations too high. While we have had some food (occasionally) that has been awesome, there hasn't been a restaurant that we really love.
I have been so desperate to find the incredible food rumored to be in Sydney that I've asked whoever I can for restaurant recommendations. This includes random classmates--who I think might have an idea of where to get good Thai/Indian/etc. food. One of my classmates, who is from Thailand, recommended a place called Home.
There was a long line of people waiting outside. But, as you wait patiently, you can survey what's happening in the kitchen. Watching this woman cook these banana fritters made us hungry to try them. It must be the restaurant's trick. You're outside, waiting, bored, hungry, watching people cook deep-fried goodies. You can't resist. You must order them.
Can you hear them calling to you?
It was sinful. There is a tinge of guilt in each bite. But who cares?
We also had a curry dish. Sadly, not as good as the pork belly.
But we aren't going to give up on the curry yet. We'll try another curry dish the next time we go there. Because there will definitely be a next time.
